SafeCom launches Smart Printing for Sharp OSA® platform

SafeCom Pull-Print integrated in Sharp OSA-enabled MFPs

Ballerup,  Denmark, March 21, 2011 –  SafeCom A/S, a leading provider of secure print and document accounting solutions, announces the release of its latest SafeCom Smart Printing solution – SafeCom Go – that enables companies and institutions with Sharp OSA-enabled MFPs to reduce print costs, centralize administration and improve document security.

User-friendly and secure Pull Print

SafeCom Go utilizes Sharp OSA (Open Systems Architecture) technology to integrate authentication and Pull Print functionality on Sharp OSA-enabled MFPs, providing a seamless user experience through the MFP’s LCD control panel. Users send their print and go to any network printer to authenticate themselves and retrieve it.  Additionally, SafeCom Go enables the Sharp MFP to be managed centrally, allowing companies with Sharp installations to enjoy the whole suite of benefits and savings that come with SafeCom Smart Printing.

SafeCom’s Pull-Print results in achievement of huge savings and document security by turning all departmental printers into personal printers. Users can discard print jobs they regret, and forgotten jobs are deleted automatically rather than added to piles of waste. Vast amounts of ink, toner, and millions of sheets are saved every year.

Strengthening Sharp Managed Print Services

Sharp is the latest vendor to enter the Managed Print Services market and a strong player with their Sharp Optimised Services – a service which aims to drive down the cost of office printing while enhancing productivity in the workplace and improving control over the printing infrastructure. The new SafeCom Go solution will go hand-in-hand with this development as an exciting supplement to Sharp’s Managed Print Services offering.

“At Sharp we believe in providing solutions and services that simplify workflows and increase productivity in the workplace,” said Peter Plested, Divisional Manager, European Solutions Business Centre, Sharp. “SafeCom Go is an exciting new product which enhances our portfolio of solutions that integrate with our MFPs, and we are delighted to work together with SafeCom to meet our customers’ needs and in doing so reduce the cost of office printing.”

Advanced Client Billing

Other outstanding features included in the new SafeCom Go solution are advanced Client Billing functionalities that enable user-friendly entry of billing codes at the device, as well as advanced pay-for-print billing tailored to the needs of, for example, universities, libraries, legal firms, consultancy businesses, and government institutions.

Easy to install

The new SafeCom solution is based on SafeCom’s Device Server technology, and this significantly simplifies the installation process – an important benefit when setting up a large fleet of devices.

“The whole installation process is controlled centrally within SafeCom’s Device Server software on the server,” explains Lars Ehlers, Product Specialist at SafeCom.  “Users need only select the “Add Device” option and point the Device Server to the Sharp MFP. The rest is automatic,” Lars Ehlers says.
